Why go to Vietnam
Vietnam packs a whole world into one long, narrow country. In the south, Ho Chi Minh City buzzes with scooters, street food and history at the Cu Chi Tunnels. In the centre, Da Nang has long beaches and the Dragon Bridge, Ba Na Hills has the famous Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands, and Hoi An's ancient town glows with lanterns at night. Up north, Hanoi's Old Quarter and Train Street lead on to Halong Bay, with its limestone islands rising out of emerald water. Add great coffee and pho, and it is an easy country to fall for.
Best time to visit
Vietnam's weather varies by region. Spring, roughly February to April, and autumn, around September to November, are generally pleasant across much of the country. The north gets cool in winter, and central Vietnam sees heavy rain later in the year.
How to reach
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are the main international gateways, with Da Nang serving the centre. Flights from India usually connect via these cities. Indian passport holders should check the current visa rules for Vietnam before travel.
