Why go to Rajasthan
Rajasthan is India at its most royal. Massive forts, ornate palaces, carved havelis and colourful bazaars sit against a backdrop of desert and the Aravalli hills. In Jaisalmer, the golden fort is still lived in, and evenings at the Sam sand dunes end with folk music under the stars. Udaipur, the city of lakes, is all about Lake Pichola and the City Palace, while Kumbhalgarh's UNESCO-listed fort is famous for its enormous walls. Great food, warm hospitality and endless photo spots make it perfect for a short break.
Best time to visit
October to March is the best time, with pleasant days and cool nights, especially in the desert. April to June is very hot. The monsoon brings some greenery, particularly around Udaipur.
How to reach
Jaisalmer has a railway station and an airport with limited flights, and Jodhpur is another common gateway. Udaipur has Maharana Pratap Airport and a railway station. Both are popular overnight road journeys from Delhi NCR.
Our Rajasthan trips
We run two Rajasthan weekend getaways. Jaisalmer is 2 nights / 3 days, starting from ₹7,499 per person, with a city tour of the fort and havelis, the Longewala battlefield and a stay in hotels and Swiss tents at the dunes with a bonfire and folk music. Udaipur Kumbhalgarh is 2 nights / 3 days, starting from ₹7,999 per person, travelling from Gurugram in an AC vehicle, with Udaipur sightseeing, Lake Pichola and the City Palace, and Kumbhalgarh Fort. Trips run every Friday, and groups usually have 8 to 50 travellers, many joining solo.

October to March, when days are pleasant and desert nights are cool. Summers are very hot.
