Overview

A Kinnaur road trip from Delhi: this 3 Nights / 4 Days Shimla, Chitkul and Kalpa group trip assembles at the pickup point by 8:00 PM. After meeting the team captains and a short briefing, you leave on the overnight journey. Chitkul is known as the last village of India.

Day 1 reaches Sarahan in the morning for breakfast and a visit to Shri Bhima Kali Temple, then continues to Chitkul for a bonfire and dinner. Day 2 is a full day in Chitkul, with views of the Baspa Valley and a short day hike across the Baspa River. Day 3 drives to Kalpa, stopping at Roghi Suicide Point and Reckong Peo market. Day 4 heads to Shimla, with a look at the Kinner Kailash peaks on the way, and the overnight bus to Delhi. Transport, three nights of stay, 3 breakfasts, 3 dinners and a trip captain are included. Prices start at β‚Ή11,999 per person on triple sharing (5% GST extra).

Day-wise itinerary

  1. 00Day 0Departure from Delhi

    The group assembles at the pickup point by 8:00 PM. Meet the team captains for a short tour briefing. Leave on the overnight journey towards Shimla.

  2. 01Day 1Reach Sarahan | Shri Bhima Kali Temple | Chitkul

    Reach Sarahan in the morning. Freshen up and have breakfast, then visit Shri Bhima Kali Temple. Reach Chitkul in the late afternoon and relax for a while. You may go out for a nature walk to see the sunset and the snow-clad mountains. Reach the hotel or homestay in the evening. Bonfire and dinner.

  3. 02Day 2Chitkul local exploration and day hike

    Sit and enjoy the view of the Baspa Valley and the snow-clad mountains from around the camp. Return from the camp for lunch. Move to the other side of the Baspa River for a short day hike through the forest area along the river. Sit beside the river and take in the view from the other side of the ITBP camp. Return to the hotel or homestay for sunset and dinner around the bonfire.

  4. 03Day 3Chitkul to Kalpa

    After breakfast, leave Chitkul for Kalpa. Stop at Roghi Suicide Point and Reckong Peo market on the way. Continue from Roghi Suicide Point to Kalpa. Explore Kalpa village and the temple. Dinner in the evening and an overnight stay in Kalpa.

  5. 04Day 4Kalpa to Shimla | Departure to Delhi

    After breakfast, leave Kalpa for Shimla. See the Kinner Kailash peaks on the way. In the evening, board the bus to Delhi. Overnight bus journey from Shimla to Delhi.

Cancellation Policy

  • No refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
  • Meals, activities or services you don't use aren't adjusted or refunded.
  • If a trip is cancelled because of political unrest, government guidelines, extremely poor weather or unsafe conditions, you get a full credit (equal to the amount paid) to use on any future Travel Devils booking, not a cash refund.

Things to know

Reporting point

The group assembles at the pickup point in Delhi by 8:00 PM on the departure night. The exact pickup point is shared once your booking is confirmed.
  • Early check-in at the stay is subject to availability.
  • Extra mattresses are provided for triple sharing.
  • AC will not work in hilly areas.
  • Carry a valid government-approved photo ID. There is no boarding without it.
  • The departure time is fixed. Keep your phone reachable and update your trip coordinator; they will try calling you, but we can't hold the bus.
  • Smoking isn't allowed on the bus.
  • The itinerary can change because of weather, road conditions or safety. All sightseeing is subject to weather and local authority guidelines.
  • On hill roads the driver may switch off the AC or sound system. Safety comes first.
  • Travel insurance isn't included. We recommend buying it before the trip.
  • Any increase in entry fees, taxes or fuel costs by the government after booking is charged extra.
  • Extra costs from delays outside our control (natural calamity, vehicle breakdown, road closures) are borne by travellers.
  • Damage to room or camp furnishings is payable by the guest responsible.

Day 2 in Chitkul has a short day hike on the other side of the Baspa River, through the forest area along the river. Day 1 has an optional nature walk in Chitkul, and Day 3 includes a walk around Kalpa village.

How do I book and pay?

Reserve your seat by paying 50% of the trip cost, and pay the rest at least 4 days before the trip. 5% GST is added to the price.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 10 days before the travel date and 50% of the advance is refunded; 5 to 10 days before, 25% of the advance; less than 5 days before, there is no refund. There is no refund for no-shows or early check-outs.

What do I need to carry?

A valid government-approved photo ID is a must: there is no boarding without it. Also pack comfortable clothes, sports or trekking shoes, a warm layer for the season, personal medicines and some cash. The full list is under Things To Pack.
