Overview

Chopta is a peaceful high-altitude meadow in Uttarakhand, often called the "Mini Switzerland of India". It is the base for the trek to Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple at 3,680m, and further up to the Chandrashila summit at 3,960m. It is a year-round trekking favourite: come between April and June for lush green meadows, or January to March for snow.

This 2 Nights / 3 Days trip runs Delhi to Delhi by tempo traveller or cab. Day 1 takes you past the Devprayag Sangam and on to Chopta. Day 2 is adventure and sightseeing, with the Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila trek as the headline act. On Day 3 you drive to Sari Village and trek to Deoriatal, a lovely lake known for its mountain reflections, before heading home.

You stay 2 nights in Swiss camps or a homestay, with veg meals (2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and 2 evening snacks, from Day 1 evening snacks to Day 3 breakfast). An experienced Trip Captain and trek guide leads the way, a bonfire is on when the weather permits, and driver allowances, tolls, parking and state taxes are covered, plus 24x7 customer support.

Day-wise itinerary

01Day 1Devprayag Sangam | Chopta Arrival
Stop at Devprayag to witness the confluence of Bhagirathi & Alaknanda rivers. After breakfast near Rudraprayag, proceed to Chopta. Check-in, relax, take a forest walk, enjoy a bonfire in the evening, and have a home-style dinner.
02Day 2Adventure and Sightseeing
Early morning, trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila Peak (weather permitting). Return to Chopta, relax, and stay overnight.
03Day 3Drive To Sari Village| Trek To Deoriatal
After breakfast, drive to Sari Village, trek to Deoriatal Lake, and return to Sari. Begin the return journey to Delhi with a stop in Rishikesh for exploration, cafe hopping, and visiting temples and Ganga ghats (if time permits). Reach Delhi next day Early morning.
