Overview

The full winter circuit from Kinnaur to Spiti: this 6 Nights / 7 Days group trip from Delhi runs through Sarahan, Chitkul, Nako, Tabo, Kaza and Kalpa, with frozen landscapes, the world's highest post office at Hikkim, a 500-year-old mummy at Gue and the iconic Key Monastery.

You travel overnight from Delhi to Shimla and switch to a tempo traveller for the drive to Sarahan.

Day 2 goes to Chitkul / Sangla,

Day 3 crosses Khab Bridge to Nako, Gue and Tabo,

Day 4 visits Tabo and Dhankar on the way to Kaza,

Day 5 covers Langza, Hikkim, Komic, Key Monastery and Chicham Bridge

Day 6 heads to Kalpa for a farewell night.

Day 7 is the drive to Shimla and the overnight ride back to Delhi.

00Day 0Delhi to Shimla | Overnight journey
Overnight journey from Delhi to Shimla.
01Day 1Shimla to Sarahan
Reach Shimla and transfer to the tempo traveller. Breakfast and freshen up. Drive through Narkanda to Sarahan, arriving by evening. Relax and get to know the group with stories and stargazing. Dinner and overnight stay in Sarahan.
02Day 2Sarahan to Chitkul / Sangla
Wake up early to a sunrise over Sarahan. After breakfast, drive through the gateway of Kinnaur to Chitkul, the last village near the China border, with a stopover at Sangla Market. Check in, then dinner and a bonfire. Overnight in a hotel, campsite or homestay.
03Day 3Chitkul to Tabo / Nako
After breakfast, set off for Tabo. Cross the Khab Bridge, where the Spiti and Sutlej rivers meet, and visit Nako Lake and its ancient monastery. As you enter Spiti Valley, detour to Gue Village and its monastery, home to a 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy. Arrive in Tabo for dinner and an overnight stay.
04Day 4Tabo to Dhankar to Kaza
Early morning, visit the ancient Tabo Caves for a bird's-eye view of Tabo Village. After breakfast, visit Tabo Monastery, the oldest monastery in Spiti. Head to Kaza with a stop at Dhankar Village and its cliff-top monastery. Reach Kaza by evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
05Day 5Langza, Komic, Hikkim, Key and Chicham
After breakfast, visit Langza (the fossil village), Hikkim (the world's highest post office) and Komic (the world's highest village with a motorable road). Visit Key Monastery and Chicham Bridge. Stroll through Kaza market in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Kaza.
06Day 6Kaza to Kalpa
After breakfast, head to Kalpa with a stop at a waterfall on the way. See the Kinner Kailash Shivling. Celebrate the end of the journey with a farewell night. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
07Day 7Kalpa to Shimla to Delhi
After breakfast, drive to Shimla. Board the overnight tempo traveller or bus back to Delhi, reaching Delhi the next morning.

Things to know

Reporting point

Delhi, on the night of Day 0, for the overnight journey to Shimla. Final pickup details are shared with confirmed travellers before the trip.

Heavy snowfall and road closures: in case of an act of God (for example heavy snowfall closing roads to heavy vehicles), travellers must arrange and pay for a 4x4 vehicle. Travel Devils isn't responsible for such events or expenses.
Temperatures drop well below zero. Pack for serious cold.
Zero tolerance for misconduct: eve teasing or illegal intoxication means immediate cancellation without refund.
No illegal substances: carrying narcotics leads to cancellation without refund, and the legal consequences are yours. Hookahs and cigarettes are allowed, but no smoking inside the bus.
Basic medication and first aid are provided. Carry your personal medicines.
An original government photo ID is mandatory for every traveller. IDs are verified before boarding.
The departure time is fixed. Report at the pickup point 30 minutes early and keep the trip coordinator updated.
The departure point and time may change. Final pickup details are shared with confirmed travellers before the trip.
Bookings can't be transferred. Only the names given at confirmation may travel.
The AC is switched off in the hills, and the driver may switch it off whenever needed for safety.
Travel Devils isn't responsible for delays, changes or extra costs from natural hazards, accidents, breakdowns, weather, landslides, political closures or other incidents.
We don't provide insurance for sickness, accidents, theft or other losses.
Weather, road conditions and participants' fitness may change the itinerary. We may adjust the schedule in the interest of safety, comfort and well-being.

If heavy snowfall closes roads to heavy vehicles, travellers must arrange and pay for a 4x4 vehicle.

How cold does it get?

Temperatures drop well below zero. Pack a heavy down jacket, two sets of thermals, woollens and waterproof or snow shoes with good grip.

How do I book and pay?
