Overview

This 10 Nights / 11 Days road trip crosses Ladakh from Srinagar to Manali, covering about 1,600 km with Leh, Nubra Valley, Turtuk and Pangong Tso on the way. The trip starts in Srinagar, not Delhi: you reach Srinagar Airport on your own and go to the hotel or houseboat, where our representative meets you. It ends in Delhi after the journey down from Manali. Batches run from July to September.

From Srinagar you travel through Sonmarg and over Zoji La to Kargil, then on to Leh via Lamayuru, Magnetic Hill and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. From Leh the route goes over Khardung La to Nubra Valley for two nights, with a day trip to Turtuk, then via Shyok to camps at Pangong Tso and back to Leh over Chang La. The return is on the Leh–Manali Highway, with a night in camps at Sarchu, a day in Manali and the evening departure for Delhi. Prices start at β‚Ή21,000 per person on triple sharing with your own bike (5% GST extra).

  2. 02Day 2Srinagar to Kargil

Wake up early and leave for Kargil after breakfast. Visit Sonmarg on the way. Cross Zoji La to Drass, known as one of the coldest inhabited places in India and often called the Gateway to Ladakh. After a lunch break, continue to Kargil. Arrive at Kargil and check in to the hotel. Dinner and an overnight stay.

  3. 03Day 3Kargil to Leh

Wake up early and start for Leh after breakfast. Drive from Kargil to Lamayuru via Mulbek, Namika La and Fotu La. From Lamayuru, Leh is about 125 km, through the Hangroo Loops and Nimmu. On the way, stop at Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the confluence of the rivers. Reach Leh by evening and check in to the hotel.

  4. 04Day 4Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La

After breakfast, head towards Nubra Valley. Ride over Khardung La and spend some time at the top. Ride to Diskit Monastery for a view over Nubra Valley. 5. 05Day 5Nubra to Turtuk and back

After breakfast, drive towards Turtuk. Turtuk is the last outpost in India before Pakistan-controlled Gilgit-Baltistan, and one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier. Overnight stay in camps in Nubra Valley.

  8. 08Day 8Leh to Sarchu

Wake up early and leave for Sarchu after breakfast. Cross the Moore Plains, a flat, straight stretch of road about 30 km long. After lunch at Pang, cross Lachung La and Nakee La. Just before Sarchu, descend the Gata Loops (21 hairpin bends at 4,669 m). Reach Sarchu and check in at the camps. Dinner and an overnight stay.

  9. 09Day 9Sarchu to Manali

Wake up early and leave after breakfast for a long day on the road. Drive over Baralacha La, one of the more challenging passes on the Leh–Manali Highway. 10. 10Day 10Manali self exploration and departure

After a relaxed morning and breakfast, you can head out for local sightseeing in Manali. Places you can visit: Hidimba Devi Temple, Jogni Waterfall, Vashisht Temple and Mall Road. Spend some time cafe hopping in the streets of Old Manali. Leave for Delhi in the evening.

  11. 11Day 11Arrival in Delhi
