Overview

Dayara Bugyal is an alpine meadow in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, reached by a trail that passes villages, temples and oak forests. This 3 Nights / 4 Days trek runs from Dehradun to Dehradun: you need to reach Dehradun on your own, ideally a day before, and the group leaves Prince Chowk at 6:30 AM on Day 1.

Day 1 is the 182 km drive to Raithal Village (2,176 m), with a guesthouse stay and a trek briefing. Day 2 is the 4.3 km trek to Gui campsite (2,900 m). Day 3 climbs to the Dayara Bugyal top (3,700 m) and returns to Gui for the night. Day 4 descends to Raithal and drives back to Dehradun by evening. Transfers from Dehradun, camping, all meals, permits, trekking equipment and a trek leader are included. Prices start at β‚Ή6,999 per person (5% GST extra); dual sharing accommodation costs β‚Ή1,000 extra per person.

Day-wise itinerary

  1. 01Day 1Dehradun to Raithal Village (182 km drive)

    Altitude: 2,176 m / 7,142 ft. Drive time: 8-9 hours. Leave Prince Chowk, Dehradun at 6:30 AM. Drive via Suwakholi, Moryana Top and Bhatwari, with views of the Gangotri range, mustard fields and the Bhagirathi River. Reach Raithal Village in the Uttarkashi region and settle into the guesthouse. Evening briefing on the trek itinerary, trekking tips and environmental conservation. Permits and paperwork for the trek are sorted on this day.

  2. 02Day 2Trek from Raithal to Gui campsite

    Altitude: 2,900 m / 9,500 ft. Trek duration: 4-5 hours. Trek distance: 4.3 km. After breakfast, set out on the well-marked trail from Raithal to Gui. Walk through terraced fields and a forest of oak and maple, with glimpses of Mt Srikanth and Bandarpoonch. The trail is a steady climb. Reach Gui campsite, set up tents and have a warm lunch. Later, explore the nearby Gui Lake at sunset.

  3. 03Day 3Trek to Dayara Bugyal top and return to Gui

    Altitude: 3,700 m / 12,100 ft. Trek duration: 8 hours. Trek distance: 4.3 km. Start after breakfast with a packed lunch. Climb to the Dayara Bugyal alpine meadows, with views of Bandarpoonch and Black Peak. Reach Bakaria Top, the summit of this trek, for views of the Gangotri range including Draupadi Ka Danda and Mt Jaonli. Have lunch at the top, then retrace your steps to Gui campsite.

  4. 04Day 4Descend to Raithal Village | Drive to Dehradun

    Trek duration: 3-4 hours. Trek distance: 4.5 km. After breakfast at Gui, begin the gentle descent to Raithal Village. Have a hot lunch at Raithal. Drive back to Dehradun and arrive by evening. Drop at Prince Chowk between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM (timings can change with weather and road conditions).

  • No refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
  • Meals, activities or services you don't use aren't adjusted or refunded.
  • If a trip is cancelled because of political unrest, government guidelines, extremely poor weather or unsafe conditions, you get a full credit (equal to the amount paid) to use on any future Travel Devils booking, not a cash refund.

  • The departure time is fixed. Keep your phone reachable and update your trip coordinator; they will try calling you, but we can't hold the bus.
  • Smoking isn't allowed on the bus.
  • The itinerary can change because of weather, road conditions or safety. All sightseeing is subject to weather and local authority guidelines.
  • On hill roads the driver may switch off the AC or sound system. Safety comes first.
  • Travel insurance isn't included. We recommend buying it before the trip.
  • Any increase in entry fees, taxes or fuel costs by the government after booking is charged extra.
  • Extra costs from delays outside our control (natural calamity, vehicle breakdown, road closures) are borne by travellers.
  • Damage to room or camp furnishings is payable by the guest responsible.

Day 2 is a 4.3 km trek of 4-5 hours from Raithal (2,176 m) to Gui campsite (2,900 m). Day 3 is about 8 hours to the Dayara Bugyal top (3,700 m) and back to Gui. Day 4 is a 4.5 km descent of 3-4 hours to Raithal, followed by the drive to Dehradun.

How do I book and pay?

Reserve your seat by paying 50% of the trip cost, and pay the rest at least 4 days before the trip. 5% GST is added to the price.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 10 days before the travel date and 50% of the advance is refunded; 5 to 10 days before, 25% of the advance; less than 5 days before, there is no refund. There is no refund for no-shows or early check-outs.

What do I need to carry?

A valid government-approved photo ID is a must: there is no boarding without it. Also pack comfortable clothes, sports or trekking shoes, a warm layer for the season, personal medicines and some cash. The full list is under Things To Pack.
