Overview

Bali Pass, at 4,940 metres in Uttarakhand, links the Har Ki Dun valley with Yamunotri. The trail starts from Sankri and passes the Ruinsara valley, the Devsu Thach meadows and Ruinsara Tal before the pass. This 7 Nights / 8 Days trek runs from Dehradun to Dehradun: you need to reach Dehradun on your own, and the group leaves early on Day 1 for the 220 km drive to Sankri. Batches run every Saturday and Sunday.

Day 1 is the drive to Sankri and a hotel night. Day 2 is a ride to Taluka and the trek to Cheludgad. Day 3 reaches the Devsu Thach meadows and Day 4 reaches Ruinsara Tal. Day 5 is a harder day to Odari. Day 6 climbs to Bali Pass and descends, with roped sections, to Upper Damini. Day 7 descends to Jan Ki Chatti, and Day 8 is the drive back to Dehradun. Some sections need ropes and an ice axe, which are provided. Camping, vegetarian meals on the trek, permits, trekking equipment and a trek leader are included. Prices start at β‚Ή21,999 per person (5% GST extra).

Day-wise itinerary

  1. 01Day 1Dehradun to Sankri (220 km drive)

    Leave Dehradun early in the morning. Drive 220 km to Sankri, the base camp for the trek, inside the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. Explore the local market and the village after you arrive. Overnight stay in a pre-booked hotel in Sankri.

  2. 02Day 2Sankri to Cheludgad via Taluka

    Ride from Sankri to Taluka, where the trail begins. Trek to Cheludgad through forest, with views of snow-capped peaks. The trail is a mix of flat stretches and steep climbs through meadows and woodland.

  3. 03Day 3Cheludgad to Devsu Thach

    Trek on moderate trails with river crossings and forest paths. Reach the meadows of Devsu Thach. Camp for the night at Devsu Thach.

  4. 04Day 4Devsu Thach to Ruinsara Tal

    Trek down to the Ruinsara River. Continue through gorges and meadows towards Ruinsara Lake. Camp near Ruinsara Tal, which is surrounded by alpine meadows.

  5. 05Day 5Ruinsara Tal to Odari

    A challenging day over mixed terrain, including river crossings and avalanche zones. Views of the Swargarohini range along the way. Reach Odari, a natural shelter used by shepherds, set among ice fields.

  6. 06Day 6Odari to Bali Pass | Descend to Upper Damini

    The climb to Bali Pass is the most strenuous part of the trek, over snowy paths and ice fields. From the pass, take in 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Descend to Upper Damini. The descent includes roped sections.

  7. 07Day 7Upper Damini to Jan Ki Chatti

    Descend through the forest to Lower Damini. Join the old Yamunotri road. You can visit the Yamunotri temple or continue directly to Jan Ki Chatti. The trekking part of the trip ends at Jan Ki Chatti.

  8. 08Day 8Jan Ki Chatti to Dehradun

    Drive from Jan Ki Chatti back to Dehradun. The trip ends in Dehradun.

  • No refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
  • Meals, activities or services you don't use aren't adjusted or refunded.
  • If a trip is cancelled because of political unrest, government guidelines, extremely poor weather or unsafe conditions, you get a full credit (equal to the amount paid) to use on any future Travel Devils booking, not a cash refund.

  • The climb to Bali Pass is difficult. Some sections need ropes and an ice axe, and parts of the route cross boulder fields, avalanche zones and areas prone to landslides.
  • Backpack offloading costs β‚Ή250 per day per bag.
  • Consult your doctor before joining the trek, and carry your own medicines.
  • Carry a valid government-approved photo ID. There is no boarding without it.
  • The departure time is fixed. Keep your phone reachable and update your trip coordinator; they will try calling you, but we can't hold the bus.
  • The itinerary can change because of weather, road conditions or safety. All sightseeing is subject to weather and local authority guidelines.
  • Travel insurance isn't included. We recommend buying it before the trip.
  • Any increase in entry fees, taxes or fuel costs by the government after booking is charged extra.
  • Extra costs from delays outside our control (natural calamity, vehicle breakdown, road closures) are borne by travellers.
  • Damage to room or camp furnishings is payable by the guest responsible.

How do I book and pay?

Reserve your seat by paying 50% of the trip cost, and pay the rest at least 4 days before the trip. 5% GST is added to the price.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 10 days before the travel date and 50% of the advance is refunded; 5 to 10 days before, 25% of the advance; less than 5 days before, there is no refund. There is no refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
