Overview

The Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Garhwal Himalayas, part of the Nanda Devi biosphere and national park, and is known for its alpine flowers, which are in full bloom during the monsoon. This 5 Nights / 6 Days trek also visits Hemkund Sahib. It runs Haridwar to Haridwar: you need to reach Haridwar on your own, and the group leaves at 6:30 AM on Day 1.

Day 1 is the 290 km drive to Govindghat, which takes about 11 hours. Day 2 is a 4 km drive to Pulna and a 9 km trek to Ghangaria. Day 3 is the 4 km trek into the Valley of Flowers and back to Ghangaria. Day 4 is the 6 km trek to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 m), returning to Ghangaria by evening. Day 5 is the 9 km trek back to Govindghat, and Day 6 is the drive back to Haridwar by evening. Transfers from Haridwar, all meals, permits, trekking equipment and a trek leader are included. Batches run from June to September, with departures every Friday. Prices start at β‚Ή10,499 per person (5% GST extra).

Day-wise itinerary

  1. 01Day 1Haridwar to Govindghat (290 km drive)

    Drive distance: 290 km. Drive time: about 11 hours. Leave Haridwar early, at 6:30 AM. Reach Govindghat and check in to the hotel. Dinner and rest before the trek.

  2. 02Day 2Govindghat to Ghangaria via Pulna

    Drive distance: 4 km. Trek distance: 9 km. After breakfast, take the short 4 km drive to Pulna, where the trek starts. Trek 9 km to Ghangaria on a well-marked path. Overnight in Ghangaria.

  3. 03Day 3Trek to the Valley of Flowers

    Trek distance: 4 km. Start early in the morning for the Valley of Flowers. Spend the day in the valley among the alpine flowers and mountain scenery. Trek back to Ghangaria for the night.

  4. 04Day 4Trek to Hemkund Sahib

    Altitude: 4,329 m. Trek distance: 6 km. Trek to Hemkund Sahib; the climb is challenging and goes above the treeline. Visit the Gurudwara. Return to Ghangaria by evening.

  5. 05Day 5Return to Govindghat

    Trek distance: 9 km. Trek back to Govindghat. Rest at the hotel and visit the local spiritual sites in the evening.

  6. 06Day 6Govindghat to Haridwar

    After breakfast, begin the return journey to Haridwar. Arrive in Haridwar by evening, where the trip ends.

  • No refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
  • Meals, activities or services you don't use aren't adjusted or refunded.
  • If a trip is cancelled because of political unrest, government guidelines, extremely poor weather or unsafe conditions, you get a full credit (equal to the amount paid) to use on any future Travel Devils booking, not a cash refund.

  • Mule offloading costs β‚Ή400 per day for a bag weighing up to 10 kg.
  • Trek insurance is β‚Ή320 per person.
  • The trek to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 m) on Day 4 is challenging.
  • Carry a valid government-approved photo ID. There is no boarding without it.
  • The departure time is fixed. Keep your phone reachable and update your trip coordinator; they will try calling you, but we can't hold the bus.
  • The itinerary can change because of weather, road conditions or safety. All sightseeing is subject to weather and local authority guidelines.
  • Travel insurance isn't included. We recommend buying it before the trip.
  • Any increase in entry fees, taxes or fuel costs by the government after booking is charged extra.
  • Extra costs from delays outside our control (natural calamity, vehicle breakdown, road closures) are borne by travellers.
  • Damage to room or camp furnishings is payable by the guest responsible.

What do I need to carry?

A valid government-approved photo ID is a must: there is no boarding without it. Also pack comfortable clothes, sports or trekking shoes, a warm layer for the season, personal medicines and some cash. The full list is under Things To Pack.

How do I book and pay?

Reserve your seat by paying 50% of the trip cost, and pay the rest at least 4 days before the trip. 5% GST is added to the price.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 10 days before the travel date and 50% of the advance is refunded; 5 to 10 days before, 25% of the advance; less than 5 days before, there is no refund. There is no refund for no-shows or early check-outs.
